Moroccan Charm

July 5, 2012 5:55 pm

The magical world of Morocco is full of bright colors, rich textiles, and stunning architecture. We invite you to bring a splash of Moroccan charm into your home with our inspired event.

Create an intimate seating area with genuine leather poufs, handmade in Morocco, and Suzani cushions. The Persian word for “needle”, Suzanis are embroidered cotton or silk textiles made in Central Asian countries. They were traditionally made by brides as part of their dowry and presented to grooms on the wedding day. The intricately-sewn fabrics can be used as rugs, wall hangings, or blankets.

Illuminate the space with pierced metal lanterns, rattan pendant lights, and beaded chandeliers, with forms inspired by traditional Moroccan architecture. The lanterns feature amber glass beads placed sporadically throughout the pierced metal for a unique, warm glow.

For the finishing touch, add ornate artwork, wall panels, vases, and accent tables. Moroccan charm is about embellishment and layered textures – aim for a sensory experience with much visual stimulation.
