Overdyed rugs allow you to act on your contemporary color instincts without abandoning tradition. A classic rug will offer hand-spun wool, a unique cultural technique, and natural vegetable dyes, but there’s a deeper connection between artisan and owner worth preserving. Bashian Brothers turns authentic one-of-a-kind rugs from India, Pakistan, Turkey, and Iran into adventurous strokes of color with lilac, red, orange, green, and blue dyes – to name a few representatives from their spectrum. (Bashian imported its Persian rugs before the Iranian embargo went into effect in 2010.)
Something about the dye encourages experimentation, explaining a mix of styles that includes 19th-century-inspired designs and Turkish patchwork rugs hand stitched from the remnants of other vintage hand-knotted rugs. Regardless of style or country of origin, each rug in the Bashian Specialty Shop is individually inspected, approved, and paired with a signed certificate of authenticity.
