Art is meant to cause a reaction and incite distinct feelings within the viewer. This collection of avant-garde art aims for edginess and a hint of unease. The universal intrigue with the unusual is sated with Manga art, sugar skulls, abstract feminine allure, and mischievous animated characters.
Caia Koopman draws on her eclectic California life for inspiration when creating her alluring and whimsical lowbrow art. With her fine detail for beauty, inclinations toward nature, and collectiveness of the female spirit, Caia has quickly become one of the quintessential artists fully encompassing the elegance, strengths, and vulnerabilities of femininity.
Born and raised in Hermosa Beach, California, Bob Dob was drawn to music and art at a young age. His experience playing in the punk band Lunacy in LA’s music scene had much influence on his art. He says of his work – “I love to create worlds where the dark side of human nature is present. Life isn’t always good times. While in our youth we experience many things we would rather forget, but this is what makes us who we are. It defines us. That’s why my characters have an adolescent quality to them. I’ve been very fortunate in experiencing and hearing many great stories, which now find their way into my paintings. I guess the best way to describe my profession is I’m a visual storyteller.”
Hans Bakker Jochem illustrates the graceful lines and voluminous features of women in his paintings. The feel of his work is very graceful and sensual, evocative of his subjects. His love of painting fuels his belief that no piece is ever really complete – that each piece can continuously evolve as the artist does.
